Interview with Photographer John Goldsmith

Last week, hanging out with my good friend and fellow photographer John Goldsmith, I filmed a short interview with him discussing photography.

Capture Photography Festival Canada Line Installation

Capture Photography Festival has installed a series of photographic works along the Canada Line by local Vancouver Photographers.   Capture Fest asked me to photograph them and here are a few from that shoot!

MESS AGE

I'm thrilled to be apart of MESS AGE which opens this Friday Evening at the Remington Gallery.  

Here is a bit about the exhibition: 

Photographers Katie Huisman, Mel Yap, and Alex Waber appropriated and visually responded to Lincoln Clarkes’s mid-’90s text pieces. The photographic works invite the viewer to step into a less literal reality, leaving behind ingrained political thinking while suggesting that we reconnect to our own ideological mindset.

Clarkes’s pop conceptual text pieces from 1995 maintain poignant relevance today. Though they appear to be aggressive propaganda at first glance, the messages are anti-political and playful in their duality of meaning. Clarkes’s text works emphasize an individualistic ideology, drawing a comparison between the clichéd “Keep Calm and Carry On” motto of the twenty-first century and the reality of the “MESS AGE” we really live in and think about.

Camera Obscura - Ross Den Otter

Ross Den Otter and his newly built Camera Obscura will be producing Paper Negatives Portraits for Capture Photography Festival.  I had the pleasure of sitting for him while he was trying out a new lens.  Below is the paper negative in the water wash, I inverted the file so we could see the positive!

Studio Portraits with Sam & Elle

Two of my favourite portraits from the recent Portraiture Workshop I taught through Vancouver Photo Workshops.

Top portrait of Sam was shot with a Keno Strip light from the right side at 1/2 f:1.8 power, Bottom Portrait of Elle, a low key strobe with a small reflective umbrella at f:4. Both images were shot with the Canon 5d Mark iii, 50mm 1.8
