NEW SOLO WORK—A SIMPLE WAY BY BARBARA BOURGET
Embodying the concepts of yugen (profound, mysterious sense of beauty in the universe … and the sad beauty of human suffering) and wabi-sabi (transient and stark beauty of natural patina and aging), A Simple Way is a distillation of the creative life of Barbara Bourget’s fifty-year career in dance. A one hour journey of evocative movement inspired by the poetry of long-time collaborator, Elizabeth Dancoes, with music composed and performed by her son, Joseph Hirabayashi on grand piano, A Simple Way features the time-altering physical intensity that is a trademark of Kokoro Dance’s twenty-six year history of dance creation.
